A Dream To Share put in an impressive performance on debut to win the last at Tipperary this evening, the Racing Again On May 31st (Pro/Am) Flat Race.
Owned by Claire Gleeson and ridden by her son John, the four-year-old gelding was sent off an 8/1 chance (10s earlier).
Settled towards rear of mid-division, the John Kiely trained Muhaarar gelding made gradual progress from the seven-furlong pole and came with his effort early in the straight.
He eased by the 4/5 favourite Rath Gaul Boy with just over a furlong to go and stretched clear in the closing stages, coming home four lengths to the good.
The aforementioned market leader had to settle for second under Patrick Mullins for his father Willie, while Sir Argus (9/4), also representing the champion trainer, was a further thirteen lengths away in third.
"We always liked him at home and John has done a great job bringing him along slowly. We were hoping for a nice run today and it looked a good winners’ bumper on paper," the winning rider revealed.
"He travelled well at all stages and I couldn't be happier.
"It's very important to ride a winner in mam’s colours. It's my first winner in her colours and it's very sweet as all the family are here today."
A Dream To Share is out of Hikari, who ran just four times, winning a maiden for the Gleesons by fifteen lengths at Wexford under the late Pat Smullen.
Hikari has already produced Listed winner Raise You, who won the Amateur Derby at the Curragh under John Gleeson last October.
STEWARDS REPORT
Mr M.J.M. O'Sullivan, rider of Bright Red Rose trained by Roger Joseph McGrath, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung violently right throughout this race.
