"She done it well. She broke smart and I got a nice position, probably a bit handier than I'd liked to have been. I was travelling that well that I let her go early in the straight, and hopefully there is another day or two in her," said Leigh Roche after doubling his Dundalk score aboard Jessamine in division one of the Crowne Plaza Leading Jockey & Trainer Championship Handicap.
Roche was earlier successful aboard Atlas for Denis Hogan and here he was looking good from early in the straight on the Pat Flynn-trained Jessamine. In the end the 8/1 chance had a length and a quarter in hand over Crown Pleasure (5/2 favourite).
"Brendan (Cooney, owner) is a gentleman and a great supporter of Pat Flynn, and he deserves every winner that he gets," added Roche.
Supporters of Tuam native Roche were rewarded with this brace coming in at odds of 98/1.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined All Body And Soul (GB), trained by Tracey Collins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be coughing post race.
Samples were taken for analysis.
R.P. Downey, rider of Mademoiselle Penny trained by Patrick J.Flynn, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost her action and was pulled up.
