Easy-to-back at 10/1 Carrig Cathal brought up a double for Gordon Elliott thirty five minutes on from his Kerry National triumph when taking the honours in the Ballygarry House Hotel Novice Hurdle at Listowel.
Jack Kennedy (first winner at Listowel) was in the plate for owner Tom Doran, and bringing up his hat-trick the British-bred son of Fair Mix ground it out best from the front-running Mai Fitzs Jack (well-backed 5/1 shot) by a length and a half.
They left 11/10 favourite Screaming Rose twenty five lengths back in third.
Second market choice Oathkeeper had a bit to do in third when falling at the second last.
Elliott stated afterwards: "Jack gave him a great ride. He didn't like the ground but it has all worked out great. He looks a stayer, and Paul Roche (won a point-to-point in the Roche colours) recommended us to buy him."
