After earlier successes for Cullentra House inmates Insane Bolt and Soldiers Hill Gordon Elliott and Davy Russell completed a 218/1 Downpatrick treble with Give Him Time (12/1) in the second division of the Toals Phone Betting Available 7 Days A Week Handicap Hurdle.
Having first appeared in a four-year-old maiden point-to-point at Dawstown in May 2015 the victorious Kalanisi gelding is certainly a well-named horse as he was only now shedding his maiden tag.
He had principally plied his trade for Nick Gifford cross-channel and was here having his second outing for Elliott having been picked up for 6,500 at Tattersalls Ascot last November.
With Russell sporting the striking silks of the trainer — royal blue, gold stag’s head — Give Him Time left behind a horror show performance over fences at Tipperary at the start of the month.
Seemingly much happier over hurdles and going this way around Give Him Time dished out a seven length beating to favourite Miraculum
It was two and three parts of a length then to the pace-setter, I’m On Snap, in third.
Assistant trainer Ian Amond said: "He looks that (a dual-purpose sort).
"The last day was nearly a write-off as he made a bad mistake. Gordon said to go back over hurdles with him to learn where we are going with him.
"He'll be a nice horse for the summer - he can mix codes and is actually still for sale.
"He has won easy there and he'll be able to do both jobs.
"Three good rides from Davy. Gordon is always lucky up here so it is a good day. He likes coming here and he always has plenty of runners, so he always comes back."
