After Sir Mark Prescott's win in the preceding Big Bad Bob Race there was another win for the visitors when Watersmeet proved dogged from the front in the Coral.ie Race (All-Weather Championships Fast-Track Qualifier) at Dundalk.
Joe Fanning did the steering on the grey for his boss, Mark Johnston, and the Dansili gelding really dug in over the final quarter mile as some of the pursuers laid down strong bids.
In the end the victorious 10/11 shot fought off Political Policy and Mandatario by half a length and the same.
"He was just idling a bit up the straight. He's a bit like that and idles in front," said Fanning.
"Once they came to him he picked up and battled back. He stays and gets a mile-and-six.
"They were bang upsides me but I always felt he was just having a good look.
"I'd say he'll be aimed at one of the championship races now."
