He's just progressed all season and won well today. The handicapper will have his say now but to win four handicaps in a year is pretty cool.

That is three in a row and they were all photos so that’s the right way to do it. We have been hitting the bar with a good few seconds this year at the Curragh so it’s nice to get a winner. It’s my favourite track. I’ve been training for Andrew Cohen (Wood Hall Stud) a good while now and we’ve had a bit of luck together. He’s just gradually moved up through the (handicap) grades this year. Billy (Lee) couldn’t ride him today, so we took the 5lb off him. James won five for us on Celtic Revival and has probably ridden about ten winners for us. He’s a good rider and is hard to get now as people are cottoning on to him. He’s nearly as tall as me!. He might get into the Bold Lad but whether he’s good enough for something like that we’ll think about it.

It wouldn't be the simplest track to ride this lad on. You got to take your time early because he would get keen. It worked out well and we got the right result. On another day he could have been fifth or sixth (the way they finished). People talk about riding for luck but when you are riding for it, you need it. He was a bit unlucky in Naas one day and he was a bit unlucky in his maiden back here. If you look at it there, they have gone 11 seconds, 10.9 seconds mid-race, so we were buying lengths when they were cheap and gave them away when they were expensive!. He might improve a pound or two, I hope. You'd love to try him over six. The only day he bombed out was the day we rode him prominently. He's just not the brightest horse in the world.

After race at Navan Sat, 8th Jun, 2024 (1st)
It was good. Where we were drawn we were trying to get cover because he's a horse that if you light him up he'd run on one breath and we didn't want to do that,. Billy is good at getting them to relax. He kind of went to sleep and at halfway I was thinking we were in a bit of trouble but he picked up very well and pulled up strong. He's got to learn how to race and get everything right. It's nice to have another winner for Andrew Cohen. He seemed confident but Billy is so laidback you wouldn't know. He had a plan, he felt he should have won the last day but the last day was a messy race and I'd say we weren't the only hard luck story. It's nice to get a win. You'd like to think he'll improve. That's well watered quick summer ground and he's won on bad ground so he's pretty versatile.
