I'd say the mistake in Killarney did him good as he was absolutely foot-perfect the whole way around (third on chasing debut). All his schooling had been excellent, so that was his first time making a mistake. He had a little injury in the spring which held him up and while I had intended to put him over fences at the big meeting in the summer, with the Hurdle being worth so much money we put a claimer on, but he wasn't as sharp this year. He is a good ground horse and I'd love to think he'd be back next year for the Plate - that would be my dream with him if he stayed right. While the ground is dry, we'll continue until the beginning of the winter and the Cheltenham October meeting is in the mix. He has been fantastic and was initially sold by the Bleahens, in a year when they sold many horses for over €100,000, but I got him for €15,000 and turned out to be the best one.

Jesse Evans is a top class horse and had a brilliant run in the Galway Hurdle the last day when he just bumped into one (Zarak The Brave). He gives you a savage feeling in a race, he just travels and finds plenty. Things worked out perfectly, I had a lovely position and had something to aim at turning in. He kept finding and finding and hit the line strong. I'm delighted for the owners to get that win with him today. I'm apprenticed to Gavin Cromwell and ride out most days for him and ride out for Noel every Thursday. I'd never ridden Jesse Evans before, that's my first winner for Noel and it's also my biggest winner.

Paul Carberry came to me the other day and he said to me 'you are riding that horse all wrong',. He said to tuck him in and use his speed and that we were throwing races away. He said to hold him up, take our time, because he has a lightning burst of speed. I know the race fell apart, and the two fancied horses didn't run well, but still it was nice to see him quicken up the way he did. He's a nice horse, I'm not sure what exactly I'm going to do with him next. We might try a graded race with him again and see how we get on. He does like goodish ground and wouldn't like winter heavy. He's not unlike Go Native who actually won this a few years ago.

I don’t think he did an awful lot when he got to the front but that’s him. He’s better when he has a strong gallop to run at, the faster they go the better he is. He may run in the Naas November Handicap (on October 31) and if he didn’t go there then he could go for the handicap hurdle in Fairyhouse at the end of November. It’s a big pot in Naas and a race that he should have a chance in providing he’s fine after this.

He came back from Listowel so well that we decided to turn him out again fairly quickly. He only lost three kilos and he put them on in a few days,. He’s now won his bumper and maiden hurdle so we’ll give him a little time before he goes for something else. He jumps quick. I don’t know how he will handle heavy ground but Sean said that was borderline quick enough for him. He’ll go for a winners’ race somewhere.
