We ran him in a few good hurdle races and he was getting caught for a bit of toe against them on easier tracks. He needs a big galloping track. This is his game now. Andrew Lynch schooled him in Tipperary last week and he was brilliant. I’m delighted every day he stays sound because he had such a bad injury before. I was a bit worried when he didn’t try and kill somebody saddling up! He was quiet in himself, and I was afraid that I’d left him short of work but it worked out. He likes it loose but probably won’t run on very heavy or gluey ground. We’ll find a winners’ race and Donie said he only just stayed that trip. Two miles was his trip over hurdles.

He had a very bad injury 14 months ago when he ruptured his tendon on the off fore in a novice hurdle in January 2017. We had him cantering after five months but only because of the sea (being nearby) and that's the first time he galloped on the level and we do controlled exercise with him going uphill instead. He is very free going and can be bold and is highly strung but suits a small yard. He walks around the yard all day long but we don't let him out on the field because we're afraid he'd gallop. He'd a lot of work done coming here but he'd prefer better ground.

he is just very highly strung and the whole thing is that he can’t get lit up and got permission to go to the start early. If he gets lit up, it is very hard to get him asleep again. He is actually easy to train now because he takes no work and is running every three weeks or so and I think he is way better on a sounder surface - this is loose ground and he got away with it but whether he can get away with it on real bad winter ground, I have no idea. he’s the best we’re ever going to have and that’s all I know! I have no idea what a good horse looks like but we’re hoping to go to Cheltenham. He’ll have to win a novice somewhere (to go to Cheltenham) and I don’t know if he can. Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott probably have 100 of him but I have only one of him. and when asked is the gelding for sale, she quipped .a few people have asked us that and I suppose we’d rather be broke!

I was a little afraid of the ground but he had been waltzing around the place at home with his chest out recently so I had to run him! He's better on good ground though and won't go on winter ground. He is seven but was a very free and highly strung horse and took time. I've learned how to train him and Declan (Queally) has learned how to ride him and rides him at his own pace. I'll look for a maiden hurdle next and I'll look for a big galloping track.

After race at Cork Sun, 28th Aug, 2016 (1st)
He is a very highly strung horse and seemingly so was his dam but we've always thought he was a good horse. We've had to nurse him along and have waited a long time with him but hopefully he has a future. The ground was too soft for him the last day and we'll look for a small little hurdle for him next. We'll look for a galloping track on suitable ground before the winter comes.
