Paname wins nicely on debut
He had been doing that at home. We were worried about the ground, because he has a high knee action, but I walked it, and it was lovely. Colin rode it and said it was lovely, but he came in and said he wouldn’t want it any quicker. He should only get better as the season goes on. There are no winners’ races on the programme, so his hand could be forced to go for the Blenheim (listed race over 6f, September 20th) at Fairyhouse. We’ll take him home and see how he is, and he’s a next-year horse anyway. He’s Donal’s (Boylan, owner and breeder from Ennis) first horse with us. He has been away for a while, but he’s had horses with Eddie O’Grady and horses in England, but it’s his first with us, so it’s a good start for everybody.
Game prevails in another photo
It was a big step up in grade and I put Chris on her as Neve (Bennett, 10lbs claimer) couldn't do the weight,. Neve rides her most days and does a fantastic job with her - it's all down to Neve really. We decided to ride her cold and let her go through horses and she was brave to the line. Once the ground goes, she'll probably be gone for the year and I'll probably race on with her next year. She owes us nothing and she is going the right way. She is a sweet filly, I am mad about her and we could cover her next year and keep her racing.

Patsy powers clear for cosy win
She had a good run in the Curragh on her first start for a while. She missed the break that day and it was good she jumped with them today,. She had always showed a fair bit at home but things hadn't gone right for her. It's nice for Derek (Kierans), who supports me a lot and it's also Siobhan's first winner for him. . The filly is named after Derek's late Mam, so it is a sentimental win. I met her through Derek and she was always a lovely lady who liked having a bet - I'd say she had a few quid on her in the sky.
Skontonovski another bargain buy success for McGuinness
We bought him in July in England, he was a cheap horse (£6,500) whose form petered out. We ran him last time in Roscommon and he didn't seem to get home. I told Ronnie to hold on to him for as long as he could, I put a visor on and it made a big difference and Ronnie was world class. He is a fun horse and hopefully he will go in again. He is owned by Gary Devlin who is a good patron of mine and has War Hero and Is That Love with me. He always buys a cheap horse for fun and, if there is a beach (in Laytown) he could rock up there.
