Hightimeyouwon makes up for December defeat
he was a little bit unlucky the last day, the handicapper had it exactly right today and Cian (MacRedmond, jockey) gave him a good, nice and patient ride. We were drawn very wide (in 15), which was a real killer, so we put a visor on him to try and make him go forward early doors, which did help - I think that's what won it for him. He's a huge big horse, a smashing horse, and I'd say he'll be better on the turf. We were trying to get a win with him because he had run so well. I'd usually give him a little break about this time and he'll probably go on a break now. We might look at the all-weather finals in Lingfield, there is a good pot there, or maybe wait for the grass. he was a cheap horse at the sales, his form was there but he had lost it. He was quite disappointing last year and we said he was a horse worth taking a punt on. He wasn't overly expensive compared to what you usually have to pay for them. He was second in a Bold Lad (Handicap) on Champions Weekend and won a good pot down in Cork. Hodd's Girl ran a blinder, she was drawn wide as well. She finished strong and is a filly that keeps improving. Hopefully she'll stay at it.
Doubles for O'Brien & Horgan with 'half-decent' winner
Joseph liked him when he went to the Curragh but he's a big horse, was quite weak and the ground was tacky. He just got a bit lost. Now he's only starting to mature. It might not have been the greatest race in the world but he was impressive. I think he will go on. He has a lovely action and for a big horse he has got plenty of speed as well. Six furlongs is good for him and there is no reason why he wouldn't stay further.
Same Again for Eastwood and Flynn!
he won again, but I was hoping to stay below 70!. I had a plan in mind but I'll have to change it now and he won't run again until the turf. He was going to go to Leopardstown, as I think he'll love it there, but he'll have to go for a different race now.
Success for Sweeney with Where R U Now Bob
he (Where R U Now Bob) was tough and stuck his head in front. He'll probably come back here again for something.
Hinemoa gains first win at 13th attempt
Alan (Persse) said she travelled well into the straight but fell apart in front - I'd say she was in front plenty early but she's game. We'll try and find something similar now, we might come back for a two-mile race on Friday week. She stays well and we always said she wanted a mile-and-a-half plus. We'll see if she gets the two miles. the dam was good. This mare always showed us a bit at home but lost her race a few times in the stable yard. She'd get upset, she never did it at home but got upset when she came to the races. Since she's come back this time she seems to have settled down. All the family were the same, the dam was a late three-year-old before she did anything. She ended up rated in the 100s.
Maiden mares spring Dundalk surprises
she had bits and pieces of form over hurdles and in bumpers. We were banging our heads a little bit so we said we'd try her here in Dundalk. She did it well and we'll keep her up here for the winter. She could go back jumping in the summer but she'd want very quick ground.
