Davison filly shows her Quality in Tipperary winners' race
She was very professional, and it is all starting to click. She’s getting to where I thought she would be, and we look forward to the Sapphire at the Curragh in a couple of weeks. It’s a Group 2 over five furlongs that we won with Mooneista a few years ago. Hopefully the ground stays fast. We’re working on her confidence and the last two runs will do her the world of good. I really do think she’s going to be a very good sprinter going forward.
Usdi Atohi gets back up to land Listed prize under Ryan
Havana Notion makes it back-to-back wins in Tipperary handicap
He likes it here and won this race last year. The horse beside him helped him and then he was on his own for a bit which suited as he doesn’t like a lot of horses around him.
Surpass keeps unbeaten record intact with second Tipperary win
Blue Soul another winner for the in-form Ger Lyons stable
I’m absolutely chuffed to bits for Declan Landy as that’s the first winner he’s bred himself. James was excellent on her. He knew there was going to be a good gallop, but he had a good clock in his head. He said she idled a little in front so there is still a bit left there and might improve stepped up in trip. Chris (Hayes) rode her at the Curragh and got into a fair bit of trouble but fair play he looked after her and Ger said we’ll run her back.
Bear mauls handicap rivals under well judged Slattery ride
He disappointed us a few days when we expected him to run well. He never travelled the last day in Gowran. He’s a big gross horse who seems to be improving and coming to himself a little bit. Hopefully we can have a bit of fun with him.
Ifitwasme stays on best under Hayes to land Tipperary nightcap
The first-time tongue strap may have helped him but Chris gave him a super ride. He’s promised to do that on a few occasions but hasn’t delivered. I’m delighted for Mike Wilmot and his three sons (owners) who are all from Rathkeale just down the road from me and we often share a pint together. That’s probably his best trip and we might look for something in Killarney in a couple of weeks’ time.
