Johnny puts Bible to good use
He is still very immature and quiet weak and he'll definitely make a better three-year-old than two-year-old. He is typical of his sire in that they all seem to be game, genuine and love racing. I'll take my time with him and let him grow up.
Double for Lyons as Suspect Device finally delivers
It's a real bonus when a good hardy horse like him wins. He's been turning out every week for the last few months as far as I can see. Young Gary (Phillips) has been getting on well with him but I just thought it was time to put a senior jockey on him.
No catching Magic
For once we got the tactics right. I was talking to Eddie Lynam before the race and I asked him where the pace was going to come from. He said we could get a soft lead and that's the way it worked out though it's unfortunate that Eddie was the one to suffer. This horse has always had the ability but things haven't always gone his way. He ran well on fast ground at the Curragh a couple of runs back but he may have been feeling the effects of it when running on similar ground at Cork (down the field) last time. That nice ground there was a help to him.
Emulous justifies Weld's high opinion
That was a very pleasing performance from a very consistent filly. She'll have a little break now and then be trained for the Group 1 Matron Stakes at Leopardstown and the Sun Chariot Stakes. They are the two races I have in mind for her. That was a very competitive Group 3, probably close enough to Group 2 standard. She likes a little bit of time between her races and that's why we decided not to go to Royal Ascot. I'd like to pay tribute to Fairyhouse on the state of the ground this evening . it's in great condition. They've taken a lot of flack but they deserve credit now.
'Dusty' shows his strength on Little Arrows
He'd never been beyond a mile before but he finished well over a stiff mile at Naas last time and that trip (1m 2f) gives him a chance to find his feet. He won off 75 last year and he was off 72 today. That's his level.
Double for Foley on an evening to remember
He went the longest way around in the end but he still won well and I'm delighted. He'll go for another handicap now and end up three-year-old hurdling. He was only meant to be a sprinter but I got the distances all wrong and I'd say he'd go a mile and a half.
