Recurrent Dream scores on debut for Lyons & Keane
We're absolutely delighted with that. Vincent (Gaul, owner) had his full-brother last year. We've been very lucky with Elzaam and so has Vincent. He ran in this race to get him ready for the Ballyhane Stakes. The biggest thing this year is to try and get €50,000 off Joe Foley seeing as he is by (Ballyhane stallion) Elzaam. That would make our year. The way he did it there he's going the right way. He's a lovely horse, we thought the trip would be below his best today and he would lack experience but he showed he's a nice horse. He won with his ears pricked. He's a big baby and there is a lot of improvement in him. We look forward to getting him home now and see how much he improves. Naas have done a fantastic job and it's beautiful ground.
Lupini's Dandyville battles well to gain second victory
He's been in good form since he won at Fairyhouse. The last time he ran at Dundalk (over 7f) he wasn't beaten far and we thought dropping back to six furlongs would suit him. He travelled into the race lovely, Gavin got him settled well and he always does his best work at the end. He's very genuine and tough and hopefully he'll progress and we can get him competing at premier handicap level by the end of the year. At the moment I think his trip is six furlongs. Once he learns to settle a bit better we can think about stepping up. I don't think he'll have any problem staying seven, it's just a matter of getting him to settle and a faster pace suits better at this stage.
Rivals didn't have a prayer against Ladies Church
Lyons & Keane double up with revitalised Mr Wendell
This is a massive team effort to get him here today. We don't know what happened to him in Leopardstown but he ran very free and just boiled over. We had to take him back and start from scratch. We took him down the road to Robert Power's and he loose schooled him and did little bits and pieces out of his routine. Our head man Martin Horan rides him out on his own at home. He's not easy and he's done a fantastic job. The only time Colin sits on him is if he's giving him a blow or at the track. We thought that he'd blow up two out today and we were just trying to get him to come here and enjoy himself, to put a nice taste in his mouth and start again. His class has come to the fore. He's a big unit and he's a nice horse. He has a big rating as well. He's after having a good blow there and he will improve. We won't make any plans, we'll get him back, see how he comes out of this race and start again. He's obviously has plenty of ability. It's a big pat on the back for everybody at home as it was a real joint effort.
In-foal Miss Jabeam sees out the mile well under Crosse
I'm absolutely delighted for the owners as they have stuck with her. She's had her little problems but they put her in foal (to Gustav Klimt) earlier in the season and it has helped as she's good and sweet. They guys in the yard have done a great job with her. She's entered at the weekend but I don't think we'll go. It's a very hot day and I think she's had a hard race. She has the guts of a month left so hopefully we'll go again with her in a couple of weeks.
Mulvany's Take My Hand back to form and Galway-bound
I thought she fired a warning shot the last day in Leopardstown over seven. We stepped her up to a mile here and she just stayed on. There is a race at Galway that she was second in last year but we were getting a little low in the handicap and I thought we mightn't get into it. He's going to give me 5 or 6lb now and that might just get us in. That's probably where she goes next week. She was just caught on the line there last year and it's been the plan to bring her back. It's nice to see her in good form.
Bucky Larson completes 135/1 treble for Lyons & Keane
He's an oul star. He's a stalwart at home, a good lead horse, and he pulls one out of the bag every so often. As Colin said to me when he has top weight in those races he has a bit of class and he can get himself out of jail. Colin was very very good on him. It was a very good night's work and it's grand to get him back on the winning trail.
