Byron shows the youngsters how it's done
It looks like she is maturing with age and I'd say the rain helped her and he (Chris Hayes) gets on well with her. It was nice to win another prize and it'll keep the show on the road. She always showed ability even as a two year old but she went lame as a two year old and took years to get right. It took a long time but the owner (his wife Mary) had patience!. She might go to Galway now.
Flawless completes 131/1 double for Hayes
Dancing another for Lyons & Keane
She was running over 1m 2f but we dropped her back and she shows plenty speed. We didn't think she'd like that rain softened ground but Colin came up the middle of the track to give her every chance. She'd appreciate better but we'll keep plugging away with her. She has a good page and is related to a couple of Group winners. She is entered at Gowran on Saturday but is 'ballot numbers'. If she can get into a race, she could run.
Double for Mullins as Lagos wins well
She was disappointing the last day but did it well tonight. She ran no race the last day but at least left that run behind her and she's a grand mare. The rain did her no harm and she had been running through the winter as a hurdler and probably liked the ease in the ground; she also had winning course form.
Open To The World gets off the mark
She deserved that and while it was an ordinary enough race it was grand to get one out of her as she is well bred and has a good page. She'll go handicapping now but I'd say 102 (rating) is what she is and she stays and gallops. The bit of rain helped and she is a genuine old thing.
Dawn takes the feature for Kelly & Short
I thought he'd have won before now but he had been running well. He'll get an entry in the three miles handicap hurdle at Galway now.
Keeper just holds on under Ahern for Aherne
I was dodgy (regarding the result of the photo-finish) but she is a hardy bit of stuff and kept at it. It was a good run the first day and she didn't gallop down the hill either so we thought there would be a little bit of improvement in her. She is fairly one-paced but can go a gallop and stay going and hopefully she will progress away over hurdles. We may sell her if we could and she is by Mahler and her dam is by Presenting and that seems to be a good cross. She is well able to jump and was bought for just E300 at Goresbridge two years ago!
