Band Width on right frequency for Sligo
We ran him back quickly after his maiden win here and it didn’t work out, and then we decided we’d geld him. I wasn’t quite sure if he’d be fit enough. He’s only back cantering two or three weeks and this was a race I only spotted at the last moment. Conditions suited us and he has won here before, so it all worked out well. He seemed to miss the break but he came home well and when he got to the front he just did enough. It should bring him forward as well and hopefully there’s a bit more to come.
7lb-claimer Coen and Craft Irish a potent mix
She seemed to stay well when we were racing her in Dundalk but it might have been out of greenness. After the penny dropped with her, all she wanted to do was go forward. She’s obviously sharpened up and was able to lie up with the pace today, even though she was actually on and off it a bit. Maybe that’s her trip now because she just seems to want to get on with things. She wasn’t really sure what to do when she hit the front and hopefully she’ll pick up another one or two during the summer. She had a bad experience at Leopardstown, she was drawn wide and ran very keen. She wasn’t as bad in Limerick but was still keen, and the drop back to six seems to have helped. Jake gave her a great ride. He’s flying and it means a lot to have a rider with a bit of confidence on her because she is tricky.
Inventor another for in-form Lee
He’s been running really well and we’ve got a bit of consistency into him this season. Last year he won on yielding ground and we were a bit worried about running him on quicker ground and were minding him a bit. This year we just said we’d keep him going and see how we get on. He’s really enjoying his racing. He was very sharp from the gates and Bill gave him an excellent ride, he’s riding brilliant this year. The last day at Limerick was maybe a tiny bit too far for him but he gets this trip well.
Another day another double for Coen
She ran very well in Navan when the ground was probably a bit on the quick side for her. Today there was more give in the ground. We were a little bit wide all the way from our draw but there’s nothing you can do about that around here. Jake is flying and she needed every bit of the 7lb off her back. She’s a grand, honest filly. I was running her in bumpers and she wasn’t getting home. She was a little bit harder on herself at that stage and maybe she has learned to race a bit better now, so you wouldn’t mind stepping her up in trip a little bit, maybe up to a mile and a half at some point. Her owner is a Roscommon man so he’s delighted and he didn’t have to come too far.
