Crack Mome lands odds on hurdle debut
It was a very good performance from that guy and I'm really happy with the way he jumped out of that ground as Ruby said it was proper soft. That will bode well for the future. The minimum trip is enough for him and I don't think he'll have to go much further. Ruby also passed a remark that he was very green, so I'm hoping there will be improvement all round.
Irregular win for trainer/rider Hogan
He was due that after I didn't get the best of runs around at Thurles. He was a bit green and I didn't give him the best of rides. It's good to make amends today for the lads Ray Treacy and Shaun Staplehurst, who are local but based in England. Ray has a good few horses with me and is a good supporter. He'll turn out somewhere over Christmas. He is what he is but is only a four-year-old and is big and raw. Fences will be his job eventually.
Warrior steps up to 3 miles in style
Going on his flat form I was hoping that a step up in trip would suit but I hadn't bargained on the soft ground but he handled it against these. He didn't do any more than the ratings would suggest and we might look at staying at this trip. He could run in the three miles race at Leopardstown over Christmas, and I'll see what else we have in it but it would be a nice race for him. No other race came up for him so I decided 'why not three miles'. He is 152 at 2m4f and on his form on the flat he could be better over three miles. He could be 160 plus at three miles and hopefully that is what he is. There is also a two-mile race for him at Dubai on World Cup day for a million. He doesn't disgrace himself when he does travel but he could have a little bit of jumping to do first.
Pointer Bobby gets it right on the track
He won his point-to-points well but had been a bit unfortunate until now. He got it right today and he's entered in a rated beginners' chase at Tramore on Thursday and there's no reason not to run if everything's in order. Eddie Keating rides him out and his input made the difference.
Powers blows away rivals over fences
He's a funny character and you can't interfere with him too much. With his jumping, he sorts himself out and you're better off leaving it to him. He's a summer horse and has been on the go a year now so I might give him a break.
Smadynium keeps up momentum for Shark
He was 5lbs well-in coming here having been second the last day; we were probably unlucky then when he was crossed by a horse at the start and he got left and wasn't able to make the running. He's a fun horse and has won two out of three since we got him and has his job done. He'll run next at Christmas but I've haven't looked at any races beyond today.
Kagney upsets hot-pot in Clonmel finale
He keeps going, jumped great and handled the soft ground well enough and did it well enough. We'll find a winners of one for him somewhere next and I don't think three miles will be a problem to him. Danny (Benson) is a good replacement (for Nina Carberry) and has lots of experience.
