Tyner team continue good run
She is tough and honest and getting the 8lb allowance (for not winning previously) was a big help. Philip learned a lot about her the last day. She ran free in her bumper so we decided to drop her in last time but if she was ridden differently she would have been a lot closer. Philip came in the last day and said we rode her the wrong way. She took a while to win a point-to-point, probably wants it soft and will go chasing next season.
Harney & Splaine come good with Bing
It's about time I got one, and he's been placed a few times. He's a nice horse but he's still a baby. We'll go for a winners of one next, and he'll be going chasing next season. The further the better for him and he'd want 2m4f or even three miles. After he ran in his point-to-point he needed two screws inserted in his leg below the cannon bone. People might not buy him because of that but he's perfect and it should not affect him.
Punters get fingers burned with Chips
We gave her a break after her last run to freshen her up and she deserved this. I declared three yesterday but was 50-50 about running as I thought it would be too soft for the three of them. Getting her own way on a track like this suited but she might not be able to dictate on a more galloping track. I'm happy with her chase mark as well!
Stamina test suits Tooreen
I couldn't believe her jumping was so good. She jumped a bit better at home during the week but she jumped so well today I couldn't believe it. She was disappointing over two miles so we said we'd try her over three miles. She didn't win a point-to-point but showed enough to encourage me to run her in a bumper.
Landmark 404/1 treble for Tyner & Enright
The way my horses have been running, if this fella didn't win today he was never going to win. We were going to sit second or third but our minds were made up for us (leader fell at the second fence). Once Philip gave him an inch of rein going up the back he went clear, and he gave him a breather coming down the hill. He's been very unlucky and it's been a very frustrating year. He got brought down at the first the last day and before that he went lame in the saddling enclosure at Tramore. A lot of the beginners chases are so hot and I've been waiting for one of these 109 (hurdle rating) races for a while. I don't know what we are going to do next but we could go back over hurdles.
Madness edges to victory in feature
He's as tough as nails and that was a nice prize to win. It was his Grand National! He was only beaten a few lengths by Buckers Bridge in a bumper and he's been very consistent on his last few runs.
