Well-bred Jett opens his account over fences
He has been promising to do that but he doesn't really like that heavy ground and we'll probably bring him back to two miles. I'm delighted with him and the faster they were going the better he went and was jumping really well. I'd like to go to Leopardstown (over Christmas) with him as we've a chance of getting nicer ground. He's a big horse and she (dam La Noire) is some mare. Gerard (McGrath, owner/breeder) says he has another foal left from her.

Steel looks the Real deal on Irish debut
He jumped a bit big early on but once he got the hang of the Irish hurdles, he was slick. He was lucky enough to get a run through on the inside (at the third last) when the leader was hanging off the rails. I thought two miles would be fine for him but Paul said he'd like to step him go up in trip so we'll see what presents itself. After that first bit of experience, he'll be a lot sharper over two miles the next time. It was a tough race and either of the two (also runner Daly Tiger) could have won any maiden hurdle this week. It was unfortunate they met - for Noel's (Meade) sake anyway!
Highandmighty adds to point-to-point wins
He's a big horse and that's how he got his name. We're happy with him and he won two point to points and would stay further. That wouldn't be the strongest race and we'll go for a handicap now but he's a chaser really.
McCarthy records shock win with Pound
That's my first track winner but I've had 9 or 10 point to point winners. We mainly sell horses and I begged the lads (Transatlantic Syndicate) to sell this fellow after his Kilbeggan bumper fourth placing but thank god they held on to him! . We have ten three-year-old's to point to point in the spring.
The Church Gate relishes Thurles stamina test
The distance suited him and Andrew had said to us the last day to step him up to this trip. He had decent bits of form without ever winning and deserved to win one. His owners have been very patient as he has had some niggly problems along the way.
