Kieren is a very good rider and got her into nice rhythm, but when you're on the inside around here it is like a rollercoaster. You're often going too fast to the second last, which can catch out horses and we were lucky. She has won a maiden hurdle (at Fairyhouse) and a beginners' chase, so will now be covered and raced for another three months. Fiona (O'Connor) likes breeding horses, she has three snippets of black-type over hurdles, so we'll look for black-type over fences now as she is related to a lot of winners.

Soldaro off the mark in good style

It wasn't the greatest of maiden hurdles, but she is a half-sister to Jeremys Flame and it is nice for her to do that. I initially thought she'd be competitive in bumpers but it didn't work out for her, but Jeremys Flame was a slow enough starter so hopefully she can progress. She has turned into a strong mare and hopefully can go on from this. I can't imagine the handicapper can be too hard on her after that and she will go handicapping now.

She had the form in the book and finished third in a maiden hurdle at Thurles one day and, off her mark, was entitled to do that. Liam (Burke, previous trainer) said she had a problem with her kidneys last year so they weren't sure what to do with her and left her off for a while, and then we got her for the club. She is progressing well and syndicates also seem to be working out well for us.
