Billy's Hope upsets fav in mares chase
In the spring when I was running her (over fences) she was jumping terrible but I did a lot of schooling with her and she got her confidence at Punchestown the other day. She started badly at the beginning but the further she went the more confident she got and it showed today. The fences are nice at Punchestown and are lovely here but I didn't think she'd beat the favourite myself but she is a good mare on her day. She is not really in love with very soft ground but as she has got older she has got stronger. We'll try and get black-type over fences somewhere along the line.

Mullins & Townend double up with Ainsi
She was entitled to do that on her bumper form. She disappointed over hurdles at Galway but maybe she didn’t handle the track and she jumped well today. We’ve had her for three years but she kept going wrong.
Progressive Broder scores in good style
The heavy ground didn't suit him at Cork the last day and it's not as bad today. I told the owner we'd go to Thurles where the ground wouldn't be as bad and he comes and wins. He is more a 2m4f horse and we'll look for something similar again before Christmas. He's turning out to be a nice horse. He jumps well and will be a nice chaser next year.
Flanagan completes 177/1 double on Rose
I used to be in the army with Tom (Stapleton) and both he and his father Paul own her. They have stayed with me when they could have definitely gone to a more fashionable trainer but have left her with me and are very good to me. Their business imports organic fertiliser which is used by many of the leading stud farms. She is quirky enough and has ability but didn't handle Clonmel at all the last day and couldn't handle the hill and couldn't settle. She always runs with a tongue-tie and it does enough for her. That's two winners from just three runners this year so I can't complain about my strike-rate but I still can't get a horse to train. She's the only horse I have at present. She is a big mare and will jump a fence in time.
