Saludos opens his seasonal account
He's a very difficult horse to place this year, the usual second season novice syndrome. He ran well at Naas last Sunday and, while it was a worry coming back so quick, this looked a winning opportunity. Robert said that after going a mile he didn't think he'd get beaten, and that he was keen to get on with it. He needs a lot of rain to run in the Grand Annual but he's fairly handicapped. If he got yielding ground he'd probably take his chance. He could run at Gowran on Saturday week but Fairyhouse and Punchestown are probably out as the ground would be getting too fast. He has his own method of jumping but he jumped the last like a fresh horse.
No Doubt as Dare scores over fences
She's entered in the Mares' Hurdle at Cheltenham. I just put her in in case she didn't win today for whatever reason. Quevega is a nice reserve to have!. We'll try to find a mares' chase for her at Fairyhouse. She's the same type of mare as Candy Girl as she doesn't see out two and three quarter miles over fences. We'll stick to a similar trip.
And the Oscar goes to Paddy
He won his point and a run over hurdles recently helped to sharpen him up. He'd a great run here last year over fences and today was his day. It was probably not the greatest race in the world but we'll see what handicap mark he gets. He won't run on fast ground.
Lyreen takes Thurles feature
We need another like him! He met the first two hurdles all wrong and he jumped a bit up in the air for the rest of them. The track probably wouldn't suit him.
Fourth is top of the Class over hurdles
Andrew gave him a great ride. We went handicap chasing with him but his jumping was disappointing. We were getting very frustrated with him, so we decided to go back hurdling. The plan coming here today was to go next for a two mile and a furlong novice handicap chase at Wexford but we may have to reconsider that now.
Ladies team up for Milan victory
He was very good in fairness to him. He's very consistent and will probably go for another handicap now. He's very versatile trip wise and should get three miles on better ground.
Foleys take bumper with Dantes
She had a nice run at Gowran. I was a bit afraid that the ground wouldn't be soft enough for her but that opens up a few more options. Where she goes next depends on the weather as if it rains she could go for a winners bumper. She will go hurdling next season.
