Swing of fortune for Baldur's Gate
that was his first time over the trip although Rachael (Blackmore) was always telling me to go three miles. Rachael had been doing a great job and had the good sense to pull him up at Thurles when the ground was too quick but then I jocked her off! I’m delighted for James though who has been a good friend for years and gave him a great spin. I just felt that he needed the 7lb (claim) over the extended trip. we’ve always thought he was a nice horse and he just had a few niggly problems and our vet Amy Fitzgerald has done a lot of work with him. This horse is a real gent, I bought him off Aidan Fitzgerald, Tina Condon rides him out at home everyday and is a huge part of my team along with her daughter Ava. He’s a big boy so we’ll give a bit of time and pick something at Christmas.
Brookhouse, Blackmore and De Bromhead win with Aslukwoodhavit
the way beginners’ chases are at the moment it looked a good opportunity. Even though he lacked a bit of experience, he didn’t show it there and jumped really well. I’m delighted to get it for Roger. It’s his stallion as well so it’s great. We’ll see were we go from here and may see what the handicapper thinks.
Semblance Of Order ends chaotic spell
he’s a good horse on the flat but started acting the monkey at stalls. We were going to step him up in trip at that stage and then schooled him over hurdles and he jumps well. He was a bit novicey at the first few and Sam gave him a super ride. We thought if we could get to the last and then go forward as he wouldn’t do any more than he has to in front. He’s had a couple of schooling days and hopefully there is plenty of improvement. There is a race at Fairyhouse in a couple of weeks but it might come a bit soon and Christmas might be the next stepping stone. He’s very clean winded and settles well. It’s good to see Sam back (from injury) and he’s a great young lad. I have full confidence in him.
Cheltenham Bumper-fifth wins on hurdling debut
Consecutive wins for Miss Pronunciation
Mark (Walsh) said it was a bit of a messy race but I thought she’d come on a bit from Limerick. She had a couple of setbacks and I’d say it’s done her no harm as she was weak and immature. She’s turning into a grand mare and hopefully she can keep progressing.
