Mahaazen game in Tipp opener
She stays well and Leigh gave her a good ride,. She kept on well at the finish. This is the longest two-year-old maiden of the year and with the size of her you wouldn't expect her to stay. She's a game little filly. She's had a few good runs and was entitled to win that.
Maundy in the Money for Marnane
He's a great old campaigner,. It was a good pot today and he handled that ground well. We'll try and find something similar for him. He'll probably go on to Dundalk later in the year. He just loves being in training and is a horse that would not take well to retirement.
Anam flies home in Concorde
This was the obvious race to come for after she ran so well here the last day,. It was probably a very good renewal of the Fairy Bridge Stakes here last time. That'll be it for the year and hopefully she'll stay in training but that decision will be made when dad talks to the connections in a few weeks time. Emulous won this for us last year and if she's half as good she'll do. She's a half-sister to Fox Hunt, who won the German St Leger this year.
O'Grady's Article looks a Real star
The ground was as soft as he would want it. I walked the track at 8.15 this morning as I was so worried but I was pleasantly surprised,. He never got the opportuntity to take on the top novices last season as he was just not right. He was not a well horse in the spring. Obviously he's been improving and great thanks must go to my staff who have done a great job with him. The last piece of work he did was very nice. He may go to Down Royal for the Grade 2 race there and that will give him a chance to take on some of the good novices from last season.
Easy Times for Russell on Tavern
I feel he's been getting better all the time. He's been showing more speed at home so I let him take his chance over two miles today,. I wanted to see if he was good enough to go for the Royal Bond at Fairyhouse. I also had Cheltenham in November in mind for him but I'd say the Royal Bond is his main target now. Even though he's won by 17-lengths he had a hard enough race there.
McCoy on the mark with Seven
They went a slow gallop and sprinted for the last three furlongs but once he jumped the last two he was ok. I was a bit concerned coming down here about the ground but when I got here Barry Geraghty told me it was just soft. He seems to be taking his races well. He won over 2m6f at Galway and will probably be at his best over extended trips. He should make a nice chaser in time.
Lieutenant strikes on chase debut
I'm relieved and very satisfied. He got a bit tired but that's to be expected against race fit horses,. He could do no more. He's jumped well and he's got a brain. I want to get some experience into him but I've no real plans. Hopefully he's ok in the morning and we'll take it from there.
