Grassick enjoys Profitable start to afternoon
Michael's family are sick at the moment, they've had the flu for the week. It was a brave decision to go back to a maiden with her handicap mark but I think it was more to get back to the six furlongs with her. We'll look at the Birdcatcher but I'd say that will probably be her for this year. I think she's done her job now. The owner might want to sell so we'll see what happens.
Imaginarium win sees Keane go two up in title race
.That was grand. He's a bit of a square peg in a round hole, as you can see you could drive a car underneath him,. I came back from holidays last year and there was a yard of horses like that. I said 'ah lads I don't have a national hunt licence'. It's been all about time and we've had to be so patient with them. He ran well in Leopardstown and this was the only option left for him. We knew nine was way too sharp for him but heavy ground was going to play to his strengths so we took a punt. He ripped his shoe off two days and stood on a nail so hats off to my head lad Martin as it was touch and go but we got him here. This was important for a number of reasons, A I'd like him to win at three, B Colin and C going into a four-year-old carrying ten stone in maidens wasn't where I wanted to be with him. He is a four-year-old though and he's going to be a lovely horse next year, please God. The dream is still alive. Vincent bought him as a foal, which is important too, but I've warned him 'don't keep buying me these big horses as they are not what I'm about!'. It's nice that it's worked out.
Bua bags maiden win with ease
I thought she was a very good two-year-old and she was very well entered up but she got an injury in the spring,. I thought she was our best two-year-old last year and we had some good ones last year. She had an injury that put her away for all of last year and we had a few little hiccups along the way this time but there was no questioning her ability at any stage. She's in the sales and we'll see. The owner is having a good run, he had a Group 3 winner at Leopardstown yesterday and I bought the dam for him so he's getting on well. He's a good man so it's great to see it. That'll be it now for her. She's had two quick runs and on the second run of her life to come to the Curragh and win a maiden by a long way is great. I think she's a smart filly and Billy said he thought she'd be good enough to contest group races next spring.
Lee back level after Tucker lands Listed prize
Moss Tucker had a big run in Longchamp where he just missed the break. It was costly obviously but he still ran a very good race,. That's what you get with him, he turns up in any ground and every time. He's very honest, reliable and solid. He's obviously improving as he was beaten in handicaps here in the 90s, running well. Billy said running him over the sharp five at Tipperary meant he was comfortable there today and that probably sharpened him up. You'd like to think he'd have a productive year again next year. He seems very straight-forward. I think he copes with that ground better than most. He did a very fast time at Tipperary, when he was just touched off, on good to firm. He's quite versatile and six is his outer limit. He might be a horse for Dubai in March or if he doesn't go there we'll have a nice time making a plan in listed and group races going forward. He'll turn up in all those good races over five and six and we'll target a Group 1 again later in the year. He'll turn up and he'll try, man or beast, that is a great attribute to have.
Dickinson dominant in Loughbrown
She obviously gets the trip very well and handles the ground,. She ran a serious race the last day when she came home very strong. We'll see what the lads want to do but there is a chance she could stay in training next year. She has a lot of class going that trip and could be a serious Cup filly, she could be a very serious four-year-old stepping up in distance. Seamus gave her a lovely ride and was very patient with her.
Eight has to battle to land odds under Maguire
A mile-and-a-half is a little on the short side for him. You kind of felt from a furlong out, while it wasn't looking pretty, he was always going to get there. He got a good strong ride from Finny and he's won easily at the line. His sister went out on her sword earlier on. She ran a wonderful race in the Prix Royal-Oak, she was absolutely loving it. The winner is rated 118 and is a good horse and they are clear of the rest. If he wasn't in the race she would have won easily. This is Finny's first winner at the Curragh which is lovely and we're delighted for Ronan who is a long-standing and loyal supporter.
Coins brings home the money for Hartys
Sounds of Spring takes Curragh finale under McCullagh
Niall won on him last year in October and he's had a few wins in October, he revels in the ground and handles the deep ground very well,. He was well drawn today in a smaller field, he ran here two weeks in a 30 runner race, and Niall was able to follow the ones he wanted. He followed Billy and followed Willie's horse as well. We know the horse has a bit of ability and he's relatively fresh as we haven't over-raced him during the summer. I'm delighted as Mr Ng is obviously a big supporter of ours and has been for quite a while so it's nice to get another winner for him. He may run on the last day of the season at Naas, he's run well there in the past before. There is a five furlong 0-90 and we'll have to see if he gets into the weights proper. If not this might be his last run. As he's been fresh during the summer we'd like to go again if the opportunity presents.
