Second warms up for National with Naas success
Oliver lands hat-trick for Roche
Mark said they were going a bit faster today than his previous two races and he made a few mistakes. He did well to get back into it. He loves that ground and he stays all day. He’s a lovely horse to have. We put him in the Leinster National back here in a couple of weeks and we’ll see what JP and Frank want to do. We’ll see how he comes out of this and that experience will do him the world of good.
Blackmore gets the fractions right as Militant springs shock
We were disappointed with him at Leopardstown but I think he just loves the soft ground. Peter (Michael, owner/breeder) came up with those tactics and suggested we try and nick a few lengths at the start if no one wanted to go on. Rachael executed the tactics brilliantly. He was third to Envoi Allen in a bumper on goodish ground and that seemed to jar him up a bit. It took him a while to come back. I pulled him out (of Cheltenham) but it’s brilliant to get this. Peter still has the mare and it’s brilliant to get the black type. We’ll look for something wherever there is proper soft ground.
Instant proves game in front
Paddy said unless you ask him at the hurdles he’ll just gallop into them. As soon as you ask him he’ll jump them for fun. He said he was doing nothing in front but as soon as the second horse came to him he went on again. He’s improving and if he got into the bottom of the Boodles and the ground was soft I’d be very tempted. They will go very quick which would suit him, and he’ll stay up the hill.
Stanley gives Harrington quick double & one-two
He’s been very consistent and Robert said he was a lot more professional today. He jumped quicker and he knew what he was doing.
Day follows up on handicap debut
We were concerned about the ground. I walked the track earlier and the hurdle course was a good bit better than the chase track so we said we’d run him.
D'alene digs deep to land bumper
He’s a raw horse and one for the future. He’ll have an entry for Cheltenham but it would have to come up soft for him to go.
