She's A Fine Wine impresses on hurdles debut for De Bromhead
I'm delighted for Michael and the Dempseys (owners), that's their first horse with us and she was a lovely one to get. She did it really nicely, jumped really well and hopefully has a good future ahead of her. I have no race in mind as we said we'd start here and see and we're not in any rush with her. There is a novice hurdle at Down Royal soon but we'll see.
25-1 outsider Kayf has all the Answers for Shinnick
He is well bred and we paid a good few quid (E35,000) at the 2019 Derby Sale but has had fierce trouble with his hocks. It has been very hard to get him right and while I didn't think we'd ever get him right, this year he seems to be sound. I thought he was going really well until a couple of weeks ago but his form dropped off a little bit so I hadn't a whole lot of confidence coming here. It looked a good race and while I'd have been happy if he finished in the first six, I suppose an ounce of breeding is worth a tonne of feeding. Two miles wouldn't have been his ideal trip but soft ground helped and this is a lovely surprise. He is a horse to hold on to as he isn't really for sale at this stage and it is great that he has eventually delivered - so many don't.

Positive tactics prove fruitful for McDonagh's Thinker
That was his first win over hurdles but he had always been there or thereabouts and he is tough. The ground is very heavy so I was worried but we live in Cratloe and our farm is only five miles out the road (in Sixmilebrridge) so it was tempting when the track being so near. We sponsored the previous race and tried to win it but didn't have any luck. This horse is a winter horse and is a chaser really who you'd think he might win a good chase some day.
Doyle delivers in Munster National
thanks to Gordon for putting me on the horse and it was because of him (having withdrawn two horses) that I ended up getting into the Kerry National as a second-reserve last month. To be able to repay him back is great. it was fairly simple the whole way around, he jumped from fence-to-fence and it was only a question of trying to stretch them coming down off the hill. I was aware he had race-fitness on his side so I wanted to use that. I had gone through the race 100 times beforehand but Plan A worked and he ended up doing what I planned in doing. He is only a handy-sized horse but gets from A to B very quickly. That's my first winner for Gordon so it's not a bad one to get. I've been going into the Gordon's for the past two seasons and while I was getting plenty opportunities, I didn't get much luck previously. This game is a big roundabout and you have to keep all doors open and I enjoy going to Gordon's where it's good craic and I ride some good horses. They are fun mornings and to ride a winner like this is a big bonus.
Jody Ted makes winning return at Limerick under McDonagh
It's a great way to start the season with him and I said beforehand that I thought he'd improve for the run so hopefully he does. We had this race in mind for a while as he is a second-season novice and it's a good day for the local McDonagh family who had an earlier winner - I think half of Cratloe are here!. Mark gave him a really nice ride - I didn't over-burden him with instructions but he rode him exactly the way I would have liked. There's a Listed handicap chase at Navan on December 9 and he might go there. He won two races here in the past but the second day he got a 'leg'. It wasn't too bad though - it was just the timing of it, as it dragged out into another season. It turned out to be the making of him as he needed all the time.
