Strada takes Naas opener
Strada Colorato is a horse we like a lot . he pulled muscles high up behind when he ran at Leopardstown last year and we took it easy with him since and he has thanked us for it. The reason we came here today was because of the €10,000 Racing Post Yearling bonus - we thought we might as well go for it and also get his maiden. We think he's a nice horse and you could see when he got to the front, his ears pricked and he didn't know what to do. Thats the third horse I have had by the sire, who is now dead, and the first two were both stakes horses.
Backbencher completes hat-trick
Backbench Blues is a smasher. That wasn't exactly the plan - Plan B was to make the running! . He'll go 1m2f and probably in time a mile and a half. He is like all those Big Bad Bobs, he is never beaten. He'll go handicapping now and we'll take it from there. If there's a 1m2f handicap at The Curragh on Guineas weekend, that would suit as the owner (Cristina Patino, Anamoine Stud) is coming over.
Bell has the winning feeling
we needed a lot of patience with Morethanafeeling. We sweetened her up as she is a funny mare and a bad traveller. A mile is her trip and she needs a dig in the ground and Dundalk doesn't suit her.
Santo Padre back in winner's enclosure
last year was a very messy season for Santo Padre . I was never happy with him and we never really got a run with him. This year he has improved off his first run at Dundalk to Cork, and again from Cork to today. Now that he is getting a bit older, maybe an ease in the ground is helping him. He'll probably go for the Greenlands Stakes at The Curragh next month.
Royal Visit a winner for Oxx
Royal Visit ran well at The Curragh, made progress and won nicely enough today. She may go up to seven furlongs and will go for a handicap now either over six or seven furlongs. She is out of a mare who was best at six furlongs.
Maarek defies top weight
to be honest I was slightly worried about the ground as that's as dry as he wants it. We may go across the water now for a handicap but ground will dictate where we go as he really has to have it soft.
