Ladies takes the cash in Santa Claus
The winning owner, Richard Heaney lives just across the fields from me. I was disappointed with this fellow's first run for us (5th here a fortnight ago behind Where's The Dosh) but he came on from it and I like him. He stays well and even though he is flat bred, he'll be better over another half a mile. We knew he'd put his head down and gallop, he jumps well and we'll find a novice hurdle for him somewhere now.
John browne completes great Meade double
Smack has Rothwell smiling
My horses weren't right but please God we'll have a good Christmas now. We've had a quiet time (last winner Vinnes Friend on the 24th of October at Wexford). We had a little problem with feed which we sorted and the horses are back flying at home now. That is Declan's third winner and he is a good kid. He'll ride plenty of winners.
Condon doubles up for in-form Lambe
I don't usually do well at this time of year as I have summer types mainly off the flat. However this year I've been sent some nice National Hunt sorts and that's my third winner in the past week (Drumbaloo last Sunday here and Kircassock Vic at Downpatrick yesterday). This horse has been fierce unlucky. He ran out in his first point-to-point, won by a nice horse of Edward O'Grady's, Jack Finch. He's got knocks and lost his confidence and he even fractured his ribs in Sligo. He was third in Uttoxeter last time and the form of that race has worked out well. Davy Condon gave him an excellent ride and it's nice to get the win coming up to Christmas.
Tom bolts up on debut
We knew he'd go on the ground and we were just hoping after that. He is largely unfurnished and I thought he was a bit weak. He is from a strong family though and his full-brother (Frisco Depot) was second in a bumper for Dessie Hughes.
