Hans Andersen impresses in informative Curragh maiden
We're delighted with him, he had a lovely run the first day and he learned plenty,. He won well. He was a little bit green turning in in Tipperary and came forward lovely. He should have no problem stepping into stakes company now. He should have no problem going further but there is no rush to step him up. He could come back here for the Futurity or something like that.
Bear mauls Anglesey Stakes rivals to complete O'Brien double
We're delighted with him. He's always shown a lot, he came here the first day and then improved lovely to win the next day,. Obviously we were delighted with him in Ascot and he was lovely here today, Ryan was very happy with him. He's a lovely smooth traveller, he's very uncomplicated. He's very happy to make the running and very happy to sit in. Ryan said he couldn't believe how easily he was going down past the two today. He said when he asked him the response was very quick. You'd have to be very happy with him. Even though he's big he's very strong and mature, he's powerful. We've always liked him a lot and from day one he was always showing plenty. Interestingly Ryan said today that he could be a Dewhurst horse or a National Stakes horse. Obviously he's running through the line when he's saying that. That's a good sign.
Mr Wagyu sticks his neck out to win Scurry for Quinn
He's a horse that, every year you get to June and he comes to himself. I don't know why but he's never won before June in his life. June and July seem to be his months and that was fantastic. We've a conundrum in September, a nice problem. He ran so well in the Ayr Gold Cup last year when he was third but you've got the Bold Lad back here on Champions Weekend and they are only six days apart. I'll leave that to the lads and they can make the decision.
Ladies Church wins Sapphire Stakes under inspired Coen ride
Ben is a top class rider and gave her a peach of a ride,. We fancied her strongly in Ascot but she probably could have done with one more run before that. She wasn't ready for that quick race. We knew coming here today that she's a filly that shows plenty of pace. We had a hood on her before because she's keen but the pace of the race was always going to help her settle today. Ben delivered her to perfection. In the sprints in Ireland sometimes they go slow, even in a sprint, and this one has bags of pace and needs pace on in front of her. When she relaxes she's got that turn of foot at the end. It didn't work in Ascot but today was always the next stepping stone, although I know it was a big step up. I saw her at 25/1 this morning and there were horses much shorter in the betting that she had beaten before. I thought she had a chance but it needed to work out like this and it worked out to perfection. She's a huge filly and what she did at two is probably a bonus. She won her maiden and a listed race. She was always going to be better at three. She's learning how to sprint and we're going to be brave with her now for the rest of the season. She's won a Group 2 so it's Group 1s all the way now.
Lagoon delivers Magical Irish Oaks win for Foley and Harrington
It's wonderful to win one classic, to get two is absolutely amazing,. She's such a game filly, she only does as much as she has to do. She's just a lovely filly to train for Mr Zhang. I kept looking at what was behind her but I knew she'd keep staying, she stayed very well in Ascot. They probably didn't go as quick as they did in Ascot and she just ran a great race. Shane was in the right position and kept going forward. He rode a super race and she kept finding and finding. t's only her third run this year and I'd say she'll improve again. She's in the Yorkshire Oaks and after that I haven't really made a decision. I'd love to keep her in training next year. I hope so because Galileos improve and her brother was a much better four-year-old than three-year-old.
Extensio provides O'Donnell family with emotional Ladies Derby success
It's unbelievable and I'd have given up a Group 1 winner for my daughter to ride the winner of this race,. We planned it two years ago. Both my children are in the industry, Patrick is in Hong Kong and I miss him a bit today. Sylvia and I planned this. He had shown form early, he was a very weak yearling, but he was a resolute galloper. Obviously the Ladies Derby is an important race. Sylvia works in Kildare, for BBA, so she'd have a lot of friends here. A lot of ducks had to line up in a row today and it's a hard thing to do. This horse has never run a bad race and he's been a very lucky horse and a very good ride. Sylvia rides out every morning for Ken Condon and that's only her third ride this year. She goes to the gym and it's a mammoth thing to do, and she's done it today. I was fortunate to have a winner at Cheltenham in 1995 (Chance Coffey — Coral Cup) but I'm sorry to say to all those national hunt aficionados that it pales into insignificance. That was a family horse as well, owned by my Dad and bred by my brother. This game has been very good to me and owes me nothing. It's a great industry. Funnily enough it's the only time I didn't get excited during a finish. I stood up there and watched it happen very slowly. You don't like to tempt fate but the ducks were in a row today.
All Things Nice defies topweight to win Nursery for O'Brien
She was tough. We dropped her in trip and took a chance,. She's a nice filly, she's hopefully progressive and will probably go into stakes company now. She's in the Goffs race so she'll probably end up there as well. She could probably go back to seven the next day. We had to be positive today after winning at a mile last time and I thought Mikey gave her a very good ride. He went along and saved a little bit. I'm delighted to win another race with her and hopefully she's a filly going the right way.
Benitoite rounds off memorable day for Foley & Harrington in finale
She was unlucky here last year as a two-year-old and it's just taken a while to get her right, she's quite a big filly. She's done that very well,. The more traffic problems she got into the better she was. I'm absolutely delighted and it's great for Mr Zhang to have a day like this, to win a classic and then win with this filly. She has a beautiful pedigree so to win her maiden was very important. We don't have her in anything, if we could win a Listed race or get black-type with her it would be job done. She's a gorgeous filly and we've always loved her but she's been a bit fragile. We've been very patient with her and it's borne fruit today.
