A Blissful beginning for Ballydoyle followers
We're delighted with her. She's a filly that just took a little bit of time to come,. Donnacha was very happy with her the last day. Ryan hadn't ridden her in a while, he was delighted with her and thought she had progressed a lot since he rode her. She's a filly that will stay further and will have no problem stepping up to a mile. It can be an advantage to get beat first or second time because with those kind of fillies if you step them into too good of a race before they are ready for it it might stop the progression. She has developed a lovely mind, she's gone very relaxed and hopefully there is plenty to come. Colin's filly kicked off the bend and you'd think she was gone because that filly won very impressively in Cork on her first run, we knew she was the danger. Our filly probably learned a lot today because she had to go and run after Colin's filly and had to fight at the end. She's very relaxed after and was in no way upset. I'd say she'd have no problem going into a Group race next and probably will end up getting a mile very well this year. The Fillies Mile could be a possibility for her.
Slattery continues his winning run for Weld
We were very hopeful in a very competitive handicap,. He rode her exactly as I thought he would. He got her into a lovely rhythm, Leopardstown takes a bit of getting, and he took his time, steady progress, came with a lovely run and gave her a lovely ride. She's a big filly and she's progressed all the time. This is her fourth win from five runs this year and she's getting better all the time. I've actually made an entry for her at Group 3 level so it's in my mind that this filly has the potential to go on now and campaign at stakes level from now on. I have her in the two-mile Loughbrown Stakes at the Curragh in about three weeks time. Her class is just winning for her over shorter distances but I believe when she goes a mile-and-six or two miles that she'll be very comfortable at that as well. Her real potential is next year, and maybe the year after, but certainly next year is when she is going to develop into that big frame of hers. She's a lovely consistent filly. She's a very straight-forward filly, she doesn't take a lot of work, she likes to be fresh and she's just an improving filly.
Mogul makes step up in Juvenile Stakes
We were delighted with him. He was trapped a little bit wide today and there was a nice pace on so he learned plenty. Ryan had to move early on him and when he got to the front he had a good look. I'd say he would have learned plenty and we've been very happy with his progress form race to race so hopefully he'll progress on again. He just had to keep him up to his job to make sure something wouldn't run him down late. Ryan was very happy and very complimentary when he came in off him. He would have a choice of two races now, probably the Dewhurst or the Vertem Futurity. We'll see how he comes out of it and the lads will decide on one of the two. We won't over-race him. His brother ran in a Group 2 and didn't run any more but this horse looks four weeks ahead of his brother at this stage. Obviously we think he's a classic horse, Guineas/Derby type horse.
Well backed Norway lands Paddy Power Stakes
We're delighted with him. It always looked like it could work for him here. A mile-and-a-half is probably his trip and taking your time on him a little bit,. We've probably been making too much use of him a few times recently but this suited him. He travels well, quickens well, but when he gets there he doesn't do a lot. He's a horse that is probably going to get better, he's going to be better next year. We had him in Australia but I don't think he's going to get in. I'd be viewing him as a next year horse really. He's a lovely horse to have, fast ground, a mile-and-a-half and he can travel and quicken. There are going to be a lot of places to suit him. He could travel a little bit at the end. He could go to Hong Kong or America.
