Happy owner on hand to greet easy de Bromhead winner
Unfortunately with the restrictions my brother Richard couldn't be here. He is half owner with us and I'm sure he's having a heart-attack at home at the moment!. We didn't expect much in Tipperary and then were disappointed at the end and she is named after my wife Ann Gallagher and we bred her. . It is quiet here but is great to be out. We'll head now and call to my brother Richard on the way home - we're from Kildorrery originally and live in Watergrasshill.
Wouldn't You Agree it's a nice birthday present
He's not with me that long, about six weeks or two months and came out of Enda Bolger's. I'm delighted to have him and he is a lovely horse who showed a bit of form in point-to-points. With the way the ballot situation is at the moment, we entered him up thinking he'd be balloted out but he got in, and thought two miles might be a little short for him. I told Mark to be positive on him and he was very professional and with a step up in trip there might be more to come. He'll go for the summer and there is a 2m4f novice at the Galway festival for him and he'll improve for the run. It is Mark's 20th birthday today and his Mam is here as an owner today so they're delighted.
'Floating fifties' in the Feale as Winters bags 'the John B. Keane'
I was stuck half-ways but it was easier go over than turn back and I had a pocket full of money which was floating wet. Val O'Connell (clerk of the course) told me he found two fifties but I don't know if he was telling me the truth or not!. the ground was in beautiful order but was drying and they watered it well last night. This horse has had leg trouble and we take him to Beale for the salt water. I was getting cold feet watching the race as they seemed to be jumping so fast but he measures his jumps and is a very kind horse. In fairness to Listowel they do everything well with facilities and staffing and they are fantastic.
Woodbrook Boy a first winner in professional ranks for Shane Fenelon
After the last two days I've had, I was nearly giving up. I lost two horses and another at home who broke his knee. I didn't want to come here today but walking in today seeing the owners put a smile on my face. Fair dues to everyone who made it happen. This horse is owned by a group from Listowel who bought into him a fortnight ago and was entitled to win as he is rated 124 over fences but hadn't run since October. He was 100/1 and 80/1 this morning and I told the owners to back him as he couldn't be out of the first three. It was Shane (Fenelon)'s first winner since he turned professional. I advised him to turn and said to him that I had plenty for the summer. He is a right good chap, is with me a while and I said it was time to turn the wheel now and I'm delighted for him.
Place Des Vosges scores for Fahey & Bolger
it was her first time over three miles and you don't know unless you try it and Mark gave her a great ride. I have her a year and a half and the only time she finished out of the money was when she fell one day at Fairyhouse. She is very consistent, it is a nice pot to win and I'm delighted for her owners Liam and Carol Rooney who are part of the syndicate. It is nice for them to come down here today and lead her in. There is a two-mile handicap for her at the Derby weekend and she might go there.
Darasso wins well under Dempsey as Samcro fails to fire
Long journey south pays off for Christie
He is a fine horse and we were all set to go to Stratford with him but he got injured on the walker and cut his leg and bruised himself. I thought that would be it, so we've had a job getting him back to here. We hadn't the time to take him away galloping but Barry (O'Neill) said he had loads of horse left today. He is going out on the grass this week and next season I think I'll aim him at Aintree. Aintree takes a horse that stays but has the gallop to go 2m4f and a big strong horse. He goes on any ground, is only seven and is by Winged Love and they are late developers so you'd be hoping there is more to come. It took me five hours to come down.
