Zuenoon gets favourite backers off to good start
He's a fine big strong colt and he did it nicely. He had a good run first time out at Limerick and he progressed from it,. He got a little bit tired going to the line but I thought he did it well. He's progressive and we'll see how he comes on before making plans.
Like mother like son for Craig and Fahy's Boy
What's amazing about this is that his mother (Dani's Girl) won here twelve years ago to the day. I said to the owner it probably couldn't happen again but thankfully it has. He wasn't claimed last time - thanks be to God - and he must be good because that's only his fourth run and his first in a handicap. You couldn't put a value on it - there's such excitement. The owner bought Dan's Girl off me. He went down to Joe Foley (stallion master) then, bred her to Arakan, so it's all local. This fella is just like the mother, a bit hyper, but this is great.
2 for Weld and McDonogh and Sea bound for better things
I said it beforehand that the ground is not ideal for her. It was good to firm when she ran second on her first start at the Curragh and I think she's got the ability to progress and be a Stakes filly,. She's a lovely big mare with a good attitude. She was very immature as a two-year-old. She's got a future - she's 500 kilos, 16.2hh - we've given her lots of time and patience pays dividends and I think it'll come with this one. Very few horses like the ground quite as testing as it is there now. I'm not saying she wants firm ground but on better ground I think you'll see a better filly. I think she'll progress a lot with the run and I think there's lots more to come.
Lee earns the plaudits as Mullins wins another big one
He's improved a bit since his last run in Ballinrobe and Billy gave him a super ride in front,. He waited in front and he just kept a little bit up his sleeve - it was a very good ride.
Comfortable for Wicklow Brave as Mullins doubles up
He's an extraordinary horse and we bought him as a bumper horse and he only cost 35 or 40,000 Euros. To win a Punchestown Champion Hurdle and an Irish St Leger and be down to Melbourne he is extraordinary and hardy,. He has his own ideas about how he does things at home and we try not to have too many arguments with him and let him get on with it and it keeps him young I'd say. I'd like to find something similar with him next but I know his owner is keen to go jumping with him and be the first horse to win a Group One on the Flat, and a Grade One over hurdles and fences, so the Drinmore Chase could be an option. He jumps fences very well. We'll keep him to the Flat and over hurdles in the meantime, and wait until the weather gets really soft until going chasing, if he does. I don't know if he'd be good enough to win an Irish St Leger at this stage but he has an entry in it but we're taking it day by day with him.
Benny wins the Blazers
I'm delighted for the horse - they went very quick and while he'd handle the ground it's a bit on the dead side,. Denis gave him a lovely ride - got him into a rhythm, and he kept going forward every chance he could. There was only two of them in it up the hill and the horse in front just started to tie up a little bit and we were coming at him. He's not a horse that you'd hit the front on too soon so Denis just timed it to perfection. Fair play to the horse - he's a smashing horse - and I'm delighted to have him. It's nice to get a winner in Galway and that was a very competitive race.
Top goes back to back in Guinness Handicap Hurdle
I was raging that he didn't get into the Galway Hurdle (third reserve),.
