Pepper Noir gains deserved maiden win
She's consistent and it's nice to win a maiden for her. She's a very versatile and genuine filly and hopefully there is plenty of fun to be had with her. She has a mark, we'll see what the handicapper does and take it from there. She's pretty versatile, she could come back in trip or go up in trip.
Final Voyage books ticket to All-Weather Championships
He's been coming along with each run this year. We stepped him up to seven the last time and he stayed on nicely. He just missed a piece of work during the week because the grass was so soft so I said to Shane to drop him in, get him to relax early and then hopefully play him late. He got a beautiful run, he gave him a great ride, and just got there in the last couple of strides. He's a horse that loves the all-weather and he's a gentleman to have anything to do with. It's just nice to get the year going. There are a few more races coming along for him. There might be something at the all-weather championships for him in Newcastle.
Positive tactics prove just the trick for Alexander John
He was the best horse in the race if you go back through his form, I couldn't see him being beaten. The Shadow Lingers won against Johnny Murtagh's horse (Lauroline) the last day and he's a better horse. Deccy was positive, got him out and he stays that seven furlongs well.
Murtagh & Kelly complete 44/1 double with Pascalia
She was a filly that always had a bit of ability, but it's just taken her a long time for the penny to drop. We put the cheekpieces on her today and it looked a nice spot for her. Shane said hopefully she'll improve with a bit of racing. She's still a bit starey but we always thought that she would be able to do a job off that low mark. Hopefully she can keep improving and win another one or two for the (Brunabonne) syndicate. They have had great luck with Mashhoor and this is their second horse.
Woods finds the gaps as Collective Powers home
It's good to win with him again. Sorcha was very good on him. I thought he'd gone a little bit moody and wasn't finishing out his races. She lights then up a bit, so we gave her a go on him. She's in with us a few mornings a week so it's great that she rode the winner. It was a very messy race, one minute 15 and change for good class sprinters.
Noble Crusade continues on sharp upward curve
That was good, he's just hit a vein of form. They went a good lick, which probably helped as he stays very well. It's great to have the lads here, they weren't here the last day. They are staying up for the night, they've come from Limerick and elsewhere. Keithen was very good, again he did nothing wrong. He had a bad draw but got him in and went from there - we're very happy. They've been very patient with him. You could think about stepping up to two miles, that would be an option. He's handicapped over hurdles, and I'd say he's probably a two-and-a-half mile horse over hurdles. He's a fun horse.
Nibiru justifies good support by a whisker
I thought our chance was gone turning in, but it was probably the winning of the race for him, getting stopped. He's a horse with a nice bit of ability and it's great. He's a horse that has always promised to win good races and never delivered but it's lovely to get one like that. He has ability but he could go out the next day and let us down. He's just one of them horses.
