Murphy eyeing bigger pots with Mr Lincoln
He is named after Abraham Lincoln as he was a tall man and I thought it would be a nice name for a big horse. He is very well-bred, I had him in the Irish Derby and I'm sorry now I took him out of it.
Cunning plan lands the Captain's prize
I told Jessica that she was riding very passively and said no matter what the result, to ride positively. Her best ride was on a John McConnell-trained horse last week and I rang her and told her to start taking things into her own hands and to stop coming late. I think she learned again today. the mare hadn't ran in a long time and we had her fresh but the change in tactics woke her up. Whatever it is, horses run for Jessica and her dad Anthony works for me, led up the horse, so it is brilliant.
Colgan delivers Moracana to land Listed prize
She won a big handicap on Champions Weekend in Leopardstown and we thought she wanted soft. We were really looking forward to two late runs in Naas but, how wrong did I get that as she hated the ground. Robbie said she was so relaxed and knew, when he pulled her out, knew he would get there, but it was a class ride. I had the grandmother, her mother and bred her so and it is great for a filly to get black-type - it is what you want. I sold her to Sue (Chadwick) after her run in Navan. She will stick to good ground now and I'll take baby steps. She is so relaxed she could stay further and I'll sit down and have a proper look at her upcoming races now.
Kingswood has eye-catching options
He was a big-framed two-year-old and a little light but we were a touch disappointed with how he finished off at the Curragh, but we got him on to easier ground the second time and saw the horse we knew. Today was the plan for a long time and roll on the summer. . I was afraid of Mr Weld's horse (Nation's Call) but quietly confident and saw him coming in in the betting, which I anticipated and it is plan executed. I'd imagine he'll run in a Derby Trial and he is in the Irish Derby and I put him in the Grand Prix de Paris. I think he will be better with some cushion under him.
All options open for Alder
we always thought he was a smart horse and had good form behind Auguste Rodin last year and has done very well over the winter. It was nice to get him started and he has a big engine. He isn't a slow horse, has a turn of foot and while he will stay 12 furlongs, isn't a horse who is crying out for 1m6f. He is one to look forward to and whether he knows enough for Epsom (the Derby) I don't know but we'll have a think about it. He is still raw and was hanging at the start of the straight so whether we go to Epsom or the Curragh, I'm not sure. We'll have a look at a Trial and then on to a Derby.
Matt Connor stays on well for Lee
Mashhoor forges home for Coen
He ran very well in the Lincoln when he stayed on and was only beaten five lengths (in 15th), but the ground was probably too soft. He came home a bit stiff and sore after Royal Ascot last year and today's slow-side-of-good ground is perfect for him. It was always the plan to come here and Ben gave him a great ride and it worked out beautifully. He had to be brave and we might have to step up to Listed class now but he is a nice horse who is going the right way.
