Promising juvenile sprinter wins Dundalk's opener
he was giving away a lot of weight so it was a good weight-carrying performance. He is a colt we have always thought a lot of and obviously he went to the Flying Childers (Group 2 in Doncaster) and came home very sick so got time off. That's why I brought him back in and kept him going for this. This has been the plan and he will probably be put away now. Colin said there that he is still plenty green when he got there, has loads of pace and is only doing enough. You will probably see a better horse in a better race and Colin thought he was a nice horse and that he would get six furlongs. I thought he was a stakes horse during the year and if we still have him next summer, it depends what mark he gets but he could be a horse for that three-year-old only handicap at Ascot. That's a long way away though.
Cromwell completes another daily double
I was unlucky the last day when I was beaten a nose on her over six. I think the step up to seven helped her today. I thought we went a nice gallop early and I was just able to slot into a lovely position and I was very happy through the race. She travels lovely through her race and while I probably thought I got there a fraction too soon, I hit the line today. I'm delighted I'm getting the opportunities from Gavin and many other trainers to ride the likes of these horses.
Swan Band wins on fourth attempt
it was good to get another winner in those colours as they have been very good to me. It was good to get her to win and I like her but she is a big, raw filly. I was a little bit disappointed the last day but she is just coming to herself. I think Awtaad (standing at €5,000) is great value — he and Gleneagles (€17,500) are two sires I think are very good value.
Hogan has claim reduced following Dundalk win
we jumped and there was pace on and got caught wide turning in. I was just conscious when we did turn in that I got a clear run on him. I probably got there a little soon but he has found plenty. I was trying to just niggle away for as long as I could and, once I got there, he ran around with me a small bit. He looked like a horse that had lost his form in recent times but has done it nicely.
Consecutive wins for Comfort Line
this horse ran in the Lincoln at the start of the year so was a high-class enough horse who was down to a winnable mark. I know he just held on to win the last day but he was far better and had a nicer draw tonight. In all fairness, the handicapper gave him a chance and Adam was very good on him and didn't panic. I don't think he is entered up next week. We'll see what happens and won't panic.
Mulligan rides first winner at Dundalk
Senado Square keeps ball rolling for new syndicate
he goes into the starting stalls late which is a big help and while the plan wasn't to make the running, he jumped and took it. Cian (Horgan, winning jockey) probably won too far but it wasn't the plan to make the running and there was no pace so he left him use his pace. last year he was working with horses rated 90 up the Curragh and destroying them. He is a very big horse so maybe it was weakness and he might only be coming to himself. He is shoving 16.2hh and is a very big strong powerful horse. The Punchestown Friends Syndicate only have him a month and have won twice with him so they're lucky. The lads are builders who my brother Brian met at Punchestown and they have three horses with us. They are getting seriously into it, are a lovely bunch of lads and have a staff party tonight but hopefully he'll win again next Wednesday when they're here.
Yokkell completes double in Dundalk's finale
we thought that distance was what she wanted. She can be a little bit keen, but Siobhan is very good at switching her off. We knew if she switched off she would get home no problem. I said to her beforehand that she would be like a little motorbike going through them!. We thought we had a solid chance and couldn't believe her price again. She is very, very genuine and is in a good shape physically. As I said before, I got her from previous connections in good shape so I haven't had to do much and she obviously loves it up here. She is going to get hit a bit now from the handicapper but is entitled to be. We have trip options and we actually bought her to go jumping and that is something to look forward to in the future.
