Permission was given for Atalis Bay (GB) to wear a hood in the parade ring only.
Shortly after leaving stalls, Ben Macdui (IRE), placed sixth, jumped sharply right-handed, taking Muker (IRE), placed fourth, off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Approximately ½ furlong out, Burning Cash (IRE), placed second, moved quickly left-handed, away from the whip, before being quickly corrected, resulting in Warrior Brave (GB), placed fifth, having to be eased off its heels momentarily, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Burning Cash (IRE).
The performance of Ben Macdui (IRE), which started second favourite and finished last of six runners, was considered.
The representative of Kevin Ryan explained that the gelding’s performance may have been affected by losing its right-fore shoe approximately 4 furlongs out.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Ben Macdui (IRE), during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities other than the lost shoe.
Following the race, Richard Kingscote reported that Rebel At Dawn (IRE), placed third, stumbled shortly after leaving the stalls.
