The Stewards received a request from John Laurence Cullen, trainer of Misty Lady, to substitute himself, with Sean Flanagan, as he was unable to do the weight. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards allowed the request, in accordance with Regulation 3. However they were of the opinion that J.L.Cullen was in breach of Rule 198, having presented himself to be weighed out with 2 lbs overweight, which had not been declared and having considered his record, he was suspended for two race days. The Stewards enquired into an incident in the back straight involving Lean And Keen, ridden by P. Carberry, Rupert Lamb (GB), ridden by R. Walsh, Somethingwonderful, ridden by Ger Fox, and Seeyouallincoppers, ridden by J.W. Kennedy, where R. Walsh was unseated. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned in the presence of Gordon Elliott, trainer who accompanied J.W.Kennedy in the Stewards room. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found the incident to be accidental, were unable to apportion blame and took no further action.

An extended handicap hurdle for four yrs old and upwards (140 = 11st 10lb)
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each hurdle race won. Any horse rated above 140 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 11st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 140 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any four year old rated above 140 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
