The Stewards requested a report from Michael Hourigan, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Undressed (FR), placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge had made a bad mistake down the back on the previous run which was a Grand National trial and a race that was ran at a faster pace. He felt that a combination of a very clean round of jumping, a slow early pace and a track that his charge had showed a liking for having won here in the past, had brought about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered

A novice steeplechase for four yrs old and upwards which, at entry, are RATED 123 OR LESS also open to horses rated 123 or less in hurdle races that do not have a published handicap steeplechase rating
Weights - 4-y-o 10st 9lb; 5-y-o and up 11st 3lb
Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase 4lb extra; Of two steeplechases 7lb extra; Horses that have not run in two steeplechases (or have not run in three hurdle races) and/or do not have a published handicap steeplechase or hurdle rating may enter and run at the discretion of the handicapper provided their performances in steeplechases and/or hurdle races are rated 123 or less.
