Permission was given for Amalfi Doug (FR) to go early to post and be mounted on the course.
Prior to this race, the representative of Jennie Candlish was asked to explain why they were running Red Giant (IRE) here at Perth on going described as Good, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Uttoxeter on 16 June 2021 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer’s representative stated that having walked both courses, in their opinion the going was faster than described at Uttoxeter and as described here at Perth.
The winner, Get Out The Gate (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Perth on 6 June 2021, where the gelding finished tenth of fifteen, beaten by 22 lengths.
Sandy Thomson’s explanation that the gelding was suited by the drop in class from Class 2 to Class 3 was noted.
