The Stewards received a report from the I.H.R.B. Veterinary Officer, that Jinxs Link, trained by M.M. Rice, could not be positively identified owing to a failure to locate the microchip number. Having considered the report, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Jinxs Link under the provisions of Rule 90 (iii). Furthermore, the Stewards referred the matter to a Senior Racing Official for further investigation in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90(iv)

The Stewards interviewed Mr D.M. Fitzgerald, rider of Denver City, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, Mr D.M. Fitzgerald stated that the filly was ungenuine and he was trying to keep her going. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. D.M. Fitzgerald was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency and R10(3)(i) by failing to give his mount time to respond to the whip. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended Mr D.M. Fitzgerald for five racedays and ordered him to attend R.A.C.E for one days tuition on the correct use of the whip
