Permission was given for Sir Benedict (IRE) to go early to post wearing a red hood and for Murbih (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
The Starter reported that Murbih (IRE) was reluctant to enter the stalls.
Antony Brittain was informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
David Nolan, the rider of Murbih (IRE), drawn 1, was slow to remove the blindfold.
Nolan’s explanation that the gelding put its head down as he went to remove the blindfold on the first attempt resulting in him losing the grip and requiring a second attempt was noted.
Shortly after leaving the stalls, Furnicoe (IRE), unplaced, shifted left-handed at the same time as Enchanted Night (GB), placed fourth, lugged right-handed resulting in Toptime (GB), placed third, Josies Kid (IRE), unplaced, and Secret Handsheikh (GB), unplaced, all being badly hampered when tightened for room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Enchanted Night (GB).
The winner, Sir Benedict (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Beverley on 29 May 2024 where the gelding finished seventh of eleven runners, beaten by 8 ¼ lengths.
The representative of Stella Barclay could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
Sir Benedict (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Cam Hardie reported that Rogue De Vega (GB), unplaced, hung right-handed in the early stages.
Hollie Doyle reported that Secret Handsheikh (GB), unplaced, suffered interference shortly after leaving the stalls.
Lewis Edmunds reported that Toptime (GB), placed third, suffered interference shortly after leaving the stalls.
David Nolan reported that Murbih (IRE), unplaced, hung right-handed.
