She was getting a lot of weight off a mare who had more experience than her and the further she was going the better she was going,. She wasn't impressing me coming down the hill as I thought she was coming off the bridle and Paul said the same. We'll probably go up in trip but she could be alright at this trip if we ever get winter ground. We've had soft ground at Tramore, Cork and at Limerick. She will progress in mares' novice races and she will probably get a Triumph entry but she will want to be a lot sharper. She is owned by Sean McManus and his daughter Julie, from Drogheda who couldn't be here but take a big interest. W P Mullins, trainer

T. Ryan, rider of Brindabella trained by W.J.Austin, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hunt left throughout

D.E. Mullins, rider of Janeymac trained by Ms Margaret Mullins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran short of room coming down the hill

S.F. O'Keeffe, rider of Kilbarry Lilly trained by C. O'Keeffe, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Best Not Argue, ridden by J.J. Slevin, and trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien. Evidence was heard from the rider and the trainer's representative, Mr. P. Doody. J.J. Slevin, stated that his instructions were to take his time, get his mount to jump and make the best of his way home from there. He stated that this was a 7yo mare having her first run over hurdles after a lengthy career on the flat. Her schooling had not been very satisfactory. Today, he was concerned about not putting her on the floor, she made mistakes and did not come down the hill. She didn't handle the track and became unbalanced coming down the hill on the chopped up ground on the inner, which affected her running. The trainer's representative confirmed the instuctions given and expressed his satisfaction with the ride. He stated that the mare was fully fit today but had not schooled particularly well at home. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Best Not Argue was coughing post race. Samples were taken for analysis

Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, in view of the veterinary evidence the Stewards noted the explanations offered

The Stewards however found J.J. Slevin in breach of Rule 213 by failing to report something which might have affected his mount's running and having taken his record into account suspended him for one race day.
