My plan was to go for the seven furlong handicap yesterday but when I saw the entries for this I knew the field wasn't going to be too big so I decided to go for it instead. He is not an out and out sprinter but the way the ground is he is getting away with the five. He was rated 51 just six weeks ago and I'm a bit shocked as I didn't think he was as good as this. He is versatile trip wise and he will probably go to Galway now for the big seven furlong handicap. Ian is value for around three or four pounds as he knows him so well. Adrian McGuinness, trainer

An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards, 105 = 9st 12lb
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 9st 12lb
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won Any horse rated above 105 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 9st 12lb. Subsequently, the excess over 105 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 105 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap
