The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Best Of Three (GB), trained by T.M. Walsh, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be clinically normal post race. The Stewards interviewed D.J. Howard, rider of Duty Dance, concerning his use of the whip in closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found D. J. Howard in breach of Regulation 10 3. (e) by using the whip other than down the shoulder or on the hind quarters and Regulation 10 4. by failing to give his mount time to respond to the whip and having taken his record into account suspended him for two race days.

An extended handicap hurdle for four yrs old and upwards (116 = 11st 10lb)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 11st 10lb
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each hurdle race won. Any horse rated above 116 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 11st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 116 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any four or five year old rated above 116 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
