Permission was given for Aubis Walk (FR) to wear a red hood to post; for Ebonello (IRE) to be mounted on the course and to go early to post wearing a red hood and Royale Dance (FR) wore ear plugs throughout the race.
An enquiry was held to consider interference just after the last hurdle, involving the winner, Ilovethenightlife (GB), ridden by Brendan Powell and Blue Beach (GB), placed second, ridden by Alex Edwards.
Powell was cautioned for careless riding as he had allowed his horse to shift right-handed, without sufficient correction, which caused Edwards to take a slight check.
The performance of Aubis Walk (FR), which started favourite and was pulled up, was considered.
Nicky Richards’ representative could offer no explanation for the mare’s poor performance other than the report made by Sean Quinlan that the mare stopped quickly.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Jamie Hamilton reported that Ruby Island (GB), unplaced, ran flat and Michael Scudamore reported that I Am Gonna Be (IRE), which was pulled up, made a respiratory noise.
