Declan gave him a great ride. The horse loves soft, tacky, ground,. He was third in this last year on goodish ground. He missed most of last season after a holdup but he's come back in real good shape this season. He's a mud lover. Declan said that he felt he moved a bit early on him the last day and he was going to move a bit later today. He said his kick lasted him until 100 yards from the line last time and that he was going to wait an extra 100 yards today. He got him to the line today. I have to say it was all up to Declan and he gave him fantastic ride. He's been a good horse for a while and that ground is his thing. The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the home straight involving Luxembourg, ridden by W.M

Lordan, placed fifth, Layfayette, ridden by C.T. Keane, placed second, and Trevaunance, ridden by S. Foley placed sixth, where it appeared that Luxembourg had to momentarily check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. W. M. Lordan stated that having raced slowly early on, the pace quickened and his mount was unable to fill a gap when it appeared. S. Foley stated that his mount shifted slightly left when under pressure and that he immediately corrected his mount. C. T. Keane stated that his mount kept a straight line on the rail in the closing stages. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no riding offence had occurred and therefore took no further action

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Luxembourg, trained by A.P.O'Brien, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
