Permission was given for Tally's Son (GB) to go early to post.
Following the race, Liam Jones reported that the winner, Black Medick (GB), hung badly left-handed, Rossa Ryan reported that Orliko (IRE), placed fifth, hung left-handed and Lydia Richards reported that Monsieur Fox (GB), unplaced, was unsuited by the undulating track.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line when the winner, Black Medick (GB), ridden by Liam Jones, interfered with Sir Magnum (GB), placed second, ridden by Brett Doyle, who in turn interfered with TALLY’S SON, placed third, ridden by Rob Hornby.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Black Medick (GB)’s placing as the momentum lost by Sir Magnum (GB) equated to less than the ½ length margin at the line.
The interference was found to be accidental as Black Medick (GB) hung quickly left-handed, despite the best efforts of Jones to correct the filly, carrying Sir Magnum (GB) and TALLY’S SON off their intended lines.
Approximately 1 furlong out, the winner, Black Medick (GB), shifted quickly right causing Martin Dwyer, the rider of Maximum Power (FR), to take a check which in turn caused interference to Copal (GB), placed fifth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The Starter reported that Fleeting Freedom (GB) broke out of the stalls and was withdrawn.
Alan Bailey was informed that the filly could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
