Ashfield Present was no match for Alert The Earth at Downpatrick last time out but did not face as tough a task here and won well, desite overjumping the final flight. Winning trainer Philip Dempsey later reported "we might go for a winners' hunters chase next and may go handicap chasing during the summer as he handles good ground."

Artist's Return had bits of reasonable point to point form but this was a career best. He did made a bad mistake at the ninth but may find it difficult to win a hunters chase. However, a handicap chase, from a lowish mark, may be within his capability.

The Cub Wood was an unlucky loser despite being beaten almost eight lenghts. He pecked on landing three out before almost falling at the next when closing on the leaders. He did well to take third in the circumstances and should win a similar race, if jumping better.

Rolling Rocky stayed on without threatening and ran reasonably well while Shake The Bottle raced prominently but dropped away in the straight.

Droim Toll won twice 'between the flags' but has shown little on the track. However, he should not yet be written off in future handicap chases.

Non-Runners were Rates Assesor (ground) and two reserves.
