Permission was given for Athmad (IRE) to wear a hood in the Parade Ring only, go early to post and be mounted in the chute.
James Doyle, the rider of Athmad (IRE), raised a concern at that start that the gelding had moved poorly to post.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the start, Athmad (IRE) was deemed fit to race.
Approximately 3 furlongs out, the winner, Skyman (GB), angled left-handed for a run at the same time as The Corporal (IRE), placed fifth, edged right-handed, causing interference to both runners, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Skyman (GB).
Approaching the final furlong, Dargel (IRE), placed third, hung right-handed, causing The Corporal (IRE), placed fifth, to shy away and in turn carry Athmad (IRE), placed fourth, onto Steeve (GB), placed sixth, which had to be checked, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of any runner.
Following the race, Adam Kirby reported that Dargel (IRE), which started joint-second favourite and finished third, hung right-handed.
