An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line when the winner Socially Shady (GB), ridden by Sam James, interfered with Beggarman (GB), placed third, ridden by Sean Levey.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of Socially Shady (GB), as despite Beggarman (GB) receiving a slight bump and being carried off its intended line late on, the interference was only of a minimal nature and the gelding was always being held before being beaten a short head and a neck at the line.
James was cautioned for careless riding as he had taken insufficient steps to prevent his mount from lugging right-handed off a true line.
An enquiry was held to consider two incidents of interference just inside 1 furlong out involving the winner Socially Shady (GB), ridden by Sam James, Beggarman (GB), placed third ridden by Sean Leavy, Robeam (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Phil Dennis and Chocolate Box (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Philip Prince.
In the first incident James was cautioned for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to hang right-handed without timely correction, causing the rider of a weakening Robeam who was already racing tight to the inside of Chocolate Box (IRE) after that runner edged slightly left-handed, to take a check.
In the second incident it was found that Beggarman (GB) had hung sharply left-handed into the path of Chocolate Box (IRE), but that Prince had not been obliged to stop riding his mount at any stage and had indeed not suffered any interference.
Following the race, Sean Levey reported that Beggarman (GB), placed third, hung left-handed.
